Marrakech to Zagora desert tour itinerary:
Day 1 : Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Taznakht – Foum Zguid – Erg Chegaga Desert
An authentic journey to the Sahara desert of Erg Chigaga starts from the red city Marrakech. The first interesting stop will be the gorgeous High Atlas Mountains with the amazing landscape and Berber villages. Then, afterwards we drive to the Berber village of Taznakht.
It is where you will have the chance to visit an association of women for making the famous Berber carpets with its different techniques of working (weaving-knotting-embroidering). After lunch break, the adventure of lifetime continues to reach Foum Zguid village where you will leave the paved road and join the exotic off road via the dry lake of Irqui.
Arrival to the getaway of a calm and charming Sahara desert where you enjoy the splendor of the sunset on the waves of the great sand dunes. Dinner and overnight in the Camp.
Day 2 : Erg Chegaga Desert – M’hamid – Zagora – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
After enjoying a picturesque sunrise upon the sand dunes and a fresh breakfast at the camp, we take a short off road the village of Mhamid once used as one stop destination for the trading caravans.
The tour continues to the gorgeous village of Tamgerout where you will visit an old library of books and manuscripts of mathematics, theology, astrology, etc.
Visit the pottery made factory and an underground Kasbah. We drive along the Draa valley admiring the palm groves and the old tribal Ksours via Zagora and Agdez to reach the Hollywood of Africa named Ouarzazate. After lunch, We drive to Marrakech via the stunning Atlas Mountains curves and scenery.
